Aesthetic Perfection – LAX (Single, 2016)
The ever controversial and inimitable Daniel Graves returns with Aesthetic Perfection’s latest single, LAX, the first taste of new material since the fantastic Til Death album was released in early 2014. Apologies to be the bringer of bad news, but no, this is not a cover of the classic Rachel Stevens pop ditty from 2003. Instead what we have is AP’s quintessential industrial-pop, that was so exquisitely honed on Til Death, on a slightly more aggressive slant.
Starting with a computerised vocal before Graves’s gravelly tone kicks in, LAX is an uptempo electro track, complete with a chorus synth that is reminiscent of something phosgore/X-Rx would use. However, with Aesthetic Perfection’s charisma in full flow, there are no worries of Cyberdog nightmares infiltrating your speakers. A really solid track that will also go down well in the clubs.
Also included are remixes of LAX by the witchhouse/synthpop king Mr Kitty, who works his synthy magic to great effect, turning the song into a Mr Kitty track, and industrial noob Kanga leaves her trail of rust in filthy fashion on her outstanding version. Excellent remixes.
Available July 22nd directly from the artist on Bandcamp here and also from all digital outlets.
